The
Gilpin County Search and Rescue team (Gilpin SAR) is a mountain
search and rescue team based in Gilpin County, Colorado.
The team consists of 19 members with skills appropriate for the rugged
topography and harsh environmental conditions associated with our close
proximity to the Continental Divide.
Gilpin SAR is an all-volunteer group. We respond to missions both in Gilpin
County and provide support for neighboring county and regional SAR teams.
We handle call outs in the county for a number of reasons. They include,
but are not limited to the following areas:
- Lost Person Search
- Aircraft Crash
- Injured Snowmobilers
- Swift Water Rescue
- Evidence Recovery/Search
- Search Dog Team
- Tracking Team
- Avalanche Search
- Technical Rescue and Evacuation
Gilpin SAR is proud to have a Wilderness Airscent Certified dog and handler on our team.
At Gilpin SAR, we are dedicated to helping people who are in need of assistance in the backcountry.
We are located at the Apex Station just North of Black Hawk.
